Details released on death of 62-year-old man in Tierrasanta who pointed gun at police [Breaking]
A 62-year-old man who pointed a gun at firefighters and San Diego police died Saturday — possibly from a self-inflicted gunshot — after officers fired at the man at a Tierrasanta apartment, a sheriff’s official said.
After seeing smoke coming from an apartment, firefighters forced open the door — and found a man on a couch armed with a gun who pointed the weapon at them, Steffen said. That’s when officers on the perimeter of the complex heard “what sounded like a single gunshot,” Steffen said in a news release. Officers in a police helicopter hovering overhead saw the man lying motionless on a walkway, he said.
