Driving home one evening in the fall of ‘83 in my new Honda, traffic seemed light for rush hour on the Eastex Freeway. It would be the last thing I remembered. ...

Never was the juxtaposition between the old and new guard more obvious than Saturday’s presser with Sonny and Kirby Smart.

passes in Georgia’s 58-point rout, Smart wandered around to Bullard’s toughness. Specifically, his willingness to play through injuries and the influence on the rest of his roster. Smart can probably get away with sounding like a coach straight out of the ‘70s at Georgia, a program he’s built to supplant Alabama as the benchmark of college football. But Sonny couldn’t do that even if his conscience permitted. For TCU to compete on a national stage, it must do business as an alternative.

He’s a tough kid. But he’s a young man. And our job is to take care of him and make sure that we don’t just see Monday night, that we see the big picture as far as taking care of Kendre’s health and in doing the right thing for him — again, not just for Monday, but for his immediate future.
