With Dexter New Blood, the original writers and star returned to try to make things right
Dexter finally meets his match, not going up against another serial killer, but his girlfriend, just a local cop who pieces together not just his most recent murder, but his entire arc of faking his own death and shifting blame to Doakes for being the Bay Harbor Butcher. She figures itout, and it throws Dexter into a tailspin we’ve never seen before, where his only play is to simply run.
The problem? Dexter kills good cop Logan on the way out, and it allows his son to finally see that despite all the bad people he’s saved, he’s killed enough innocents over the years to fit his own code. His “don’t get caught” rule overrides his “don’t kill innocents” one on at least a few occasions, either killing them himself orReally, this seems like the only way Dexter could have actually ended, his secret exposed, and ultimately his own crimes catching up with him.
