Father Gregory Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries, has told stories about his experiences with L.A.’s gang members in sermons, speaking engagements and in two nonfiction books.

His latest book, “Barking to the Choir,” is a collection of anecdotes about his daily interactions with the men and women who come to Homeboy for counseling, classes, tattoo removal and shifts at its bakery operation. “Barking to the Choir,” aA Jesuit priest and former pastor in one of L.A.’s poorest parishes, Boyle mixes his observations about faith and compassion with inspiration
