‘Spirit and Form’ features dozens of works from the Mexican-American teacher and artist.
Octavio Medellín's "Genoveva of Brabante" , a 1949 carving in red mahogany, is among the most impressive works in the show, which is on display at the Dallas Museum of Art through Jan. 15, 2023.Can you remember the last time you made the trip up to the Tower Gallery on the fourth floor of the Dallas Museum of Art? This exhibition has examples of his work from that period included as part of a survey of his entire career composed of around 80 pieces of sculpture and works on paper, including drawings related to public art commissions. His other pedagogical achievement came in 1966, when he opened a school for sculpture that still operates in East Dallas today as the Creative Arts Center.
