CLEVELAND — If Noah Syndergaard had pitched like that more often when he was with the Dodgers, Bobby Miller might have spent his summer in Oklahoma City.
Syndergaard’s failure was part of a string of setbacks that depleted the Dodgers’ starting rotation, opening the door for a trio of rookies. Miller is the last of those rookies still in the Dodgers’ rotation and he matched up with Syndergaard on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Miller was just a little better for six innings. He retired the first eight Guardians batters in order and 11 of the first 12 before giving up a home run to Oscar Gonzalez and three consecutive singles, producing another run in the fourth.
