Police are questioning a person who may be a suspect in the case, but no official arrests were announced by mid-morning Morning.
Investigators earlier said they were questioning a person who may be a suspect in the case. Detectives later elaborated that the man believed to be a suspect fled to Austin, turned himself in, and was said to have admitted to shooting the victim.HPD Homicide Det. Shaun Sylvester also added that the killing took place overnight involving a Hispanic woman, who was around 25 to 30 years old, suffering from at least one shot to the head.
The incident was one of two active but separate homicide investigations that were underway within 25 minutes of each other. Police elsewhere were looking into a body found at a park on theBrad McKinney, who lives in the same apartment complex, said he is still trying to process that one of his neighbors is gone. He said the suspect and victim were his acquaintances and the outcome is heartbreaking.
"I'm shocked. You always think, 'That's not going to happen in my neighborhood. That's not going to happen in my community.' When it does, it kind of takes you back for a second," said McKinney."I can't imagine what her family is going through right now." As of Monday afternoon, Sylvester said their officers were working on bringing the suspect back to Houston to hopefully find out more information about what led up to this incident. Investigators have not released the names of the suspect and victim, citing an on-going investigation.
