Don Mattingly’s time with the Marlins is coming to an end.
The Post’s Jon Heyman reportsWhile Mattingly will tell the team he believes it’s time for a new voice, and he’s expected to take a break, the 61-year-old former Yankees great is not retiring, Heyman reports.Mattingly took over as Marlins manager in 2016 after five years as the Dodgers’ manager. He has a 437-583 record in seven seasons in Miami entering Sunday, which has had a losing season in the six 162-game seasons during Mattingly’s tenure.
The Marlins were a surprise playoff team during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, going 31-29 to finish second in the NL East and make the playoffs. They beat the Cubs, 2-0, in the wild-card round before getting swept by the Braves in the NLDS.
