The president touted his relationship with the North Korean leader despite tensions escalating as Kim Jong Un imposed a deadline for denuclearization talks.
Pressed on whether North Korea had continued with its nuclear program and missile testing, the president responded:"Well, you don't know that. Number one, you don't know that. And number two, very importantly, I have met and in the meantime we still have peace. We have peace.
In this regard, the president has managed to make significant progress with the isolated nation where former presidents have failed to achieve their aims. However, there has been scant progress on denuclearization talks, which must take place by year-end according to a deadline imposed by Kim. "North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times,'" Trump said in a tweet in January 2018."Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"
