Doris Burke will become the first woman to serve as a game analyst on television for a championship final in one of the four major professional U.S. sports leagues. ESPN announced Monday that Burke and Doc Rivers will join Mike Breen on ESPN and ABC’s top NBA broadcast crew.
Rivers, who was fired as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers in May, called games on“Doc and Doris are close friends, and they have a mutual respect for one another, both professionally and personally,” Roberts said. “With Doc Rivers, you have someone who’s fresh off the bench and he has done this job before.
Roberts said the financial ramifications from the layoffs were separate from the decision-making process of building a new team, even though it is the job cuts that precipitated the changes.
