Prominent climate activist, Greta Thunberg, was detained by the police in London after she had just addressed protesters at a demonstration against oil and gas companies in the city center. Thunberg became the face of young climate activists worldwide when she began staging weekly protests outside the Swedish parliament in 2018.
At a recent Dothan City Board of Education meeting, Dothan City Schools recognized Adrian Broughton as the October Employee of the Month.
Broughton, who is currently Dothan High School's head band director, has been an employee of Dothan City Schools for 13 years. He was nominated for the award by Scott Faulk, DCS director of fine arts. “ hard work and dedication to the music program, and to all stakeholders involved in the music program, makes him deserving of this recognition," Faulk said."The sacrifices he and his family have made to ensure every performance is at a high quality. He educates his students on the ethics of hard work, and the rewards that come with this mindset."
Faulk also notes that Brougton is to credit for the success of his students due to the priority he sets on the music program. Broughton has played an intricate role in students receiving music scholarships and their continued passion for playing music. People are also reading… “Mr. Broughton wears many hats as band director. He assures that students are playing their instruments and learning their music at a top level. He is involved with making sure that stakeholders and his staff have direct communication with each other,’ Faulk said. “There have been times where Mr. Broughton has had to drive the band equipment trailer to various performances. His dedication to educating children in his program is far beyond that of the average educator.
