“The need for a safe, effective, low-cost vaccine for middle- to low-income countries is central to the world’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,' said Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi.

The first halal COVID-19 vaccine, developed by Drs. Peter Hotez and Maria Bottazzi, has been approved for use in Indonesia.A vaccine developed by Dr. Peter Hotez — dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital — has been approved for use in Indonesia.

By Hotez’s count, Corbevax has already found its way to 80 million people in India, including 70 million adolescents. The hope is that IndoVac will replicate the Corbevax’s India success in Indonesia, he said.
