The driver struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was proceeding on a green light Thursday evening, San Diego police said
The driver of a sedan was killed when he rear-ended a tractor-trailer truck in an Otay Mesa intersection Thursday evening, San Diego police said. The semi had been stopped at a red light on Otay Mesa Road at Cactus Road about 6:30 p.m., police said.
The light turned green, and the truck began to move forward into the intersection when it was struck from behind by a 2016 Chevy Malibu, police said. The back of the trailer penetrated the windshield of the Malibu, killing the driver, according to police. His name was not released. The 37-year-old driver of the semi was not injured. The crash remained under investigation.
