The 20-year-old Lakewood man is charged with vehicular homicide and other offenses, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Mordechai Berkowitz was driving a car east on South Lake Drive when he crossed over the double-yellow center line and slammed head-on into an SUV around 8:20 p.m., the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The 44-year-old front-seat passenger in the SUV — Juana Lopez-Hernandez, a citizen of Mexico, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, officials said. The driver, a 35-year-old Jackson woman, is in stable condition and receiving treatment for her injuries.
