Some critics say their faith in the three board members is lost.
DUBLIN — Three school board members from Dublin’s east side are facing calls to resign over allegations they coordinated an effort to effectively oust another board member from the west side during a redistricting process earlier this year.
Washington obtained the screenshots from the district as part of its response to a public records request she filed. She said the various messages, often involving discussion with resident William Carey, show that he was “pulling strings” to influence the board members to choose a specific district voting map, referred to as Scenario 1.
In a Jan. 22 text from Carey to Cherrier, Carey wrote, “Whatever path, we can have support line up.” The following message he sent said, “Need to decide is it more important to get Megan or Kristen out OR stenghen 3 east areas.” Carey, in a text conversation with Kuo on Jan. 10, wrote in part, “Hello. For trustee boundary discussion tomorrow, the goal for tomorrow should be to get them to mock up different additional scenarios before next meeting.” He also told Kuo which type of maps to “specifically please request.”
Cherrier, in a phone interview, said he never violated the Brown Act and called the whole issue “nonsense” that is distracting from real issues. “We know now that there were two very different conversations going on,” said Kelly Baalman, a teacher in the district and a parent of three.
