Dylon Dyes (DYLON_UK) launches ‘Re-Dye Don’t Re-Buy’ Initiative
The survey found that 66% of Brits admit to buying the same or more garments than they were two years ago, however one in three are consciously trying to buy fewer clothes to reduce their environmental impact.
Dylon estimates that for every pair of jeans that is re-dyed instead of re-bought, it will save 20kg of C02. This is the equivalent of driving 71 miles in a petrol-fuelled car. Dylon’s Re-Dye Don’t Re-Buy initiative aims to inspire consumers to make their old clothes look like new again with the help of Dylon dye.
Fashion influencers on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube have been commissioned to refresh their old clothes with new colours, and Dylon has also released some new how-to guides, as well as its first fashion capsule collection. Rebecca Bland, Senior Brand Manager at DYLON Dyes comments: “Currently 300K tonnes of UK household textile waste goes to landfill or for incineration each year, but much of it could be recycled. We’re hoping that our initiative will urge people to first dig into their wardrobes to see how they can revolutionise their wardrobes and transform their existing clothes with DYLON Dyes Machine Pods before making new purchases.
