Daily News | Eagles punter Brett Kern is prepared for any Super Bowl option, including not playing
PHOENIX — Whether he’s the starter or not, Eagles punter Brett Kern is remaining poised ahead of what could be his first Super Bowl appearance against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni told the media in Phoenix on Wednesday, “We’ll see about Arryn, you guys can talk to the Philly media guys. They’ll let you know; I don’t give that much information there.” In the meantime, the Eagles signed 15-year NFL veteran Kern as both a punter and a holder to fill in for Siposs, who has averaged 45.6 gross yards per punt this season.
In his six games played with the Eagles, Kern, who has averaged 44.1 gross yards per punt and 39.3 net in the playoffs, then made his fifth postseason appearance. The first came in year 10 of his career, when he was with the Titans.
