At some point in the fray, the suspect’s dog bit three officers, breaking skin on two, police said.
A San Rafael trespassing suspect who challenged police to fire a taser at him allegedly became so violent that officers found it necessary to deploy the weapon, police said.
Police officers approached Jonathan Christopher Evans, 26, of Oakland on Marinita Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday after two nearby residents reported he entered their properties, said police Lt. Scott Eberle. Police detained Evans and told him they were going to arrest him on suspicion of trespassing and prowling. The suspect then tried to flee, Eberle said.
The officers “continued to try to de-escalate” the situation, and one drew a Taser. Evans swiped at the weapon and “was violently twisting and thrashed to break free from officers,” before telling them to let him go or use the weapon, Eberle said.
