Staff say they're creating a safe space where women can learn tools on stressful days. Even if women aren’t grappling with an issue, the staff welcomes them to help those who are struggling.
Angelina Guajardo is the Program Director for ther newly-opened Divine Women center. The new east side non-profit offers help to women who have survived a range of issues including sexual trafficing, trauma, domestic abuse, and metal health issues.The deaths of three family members sent her spiraling. Marking’s depression was so deep she isolated herself from her family.
Now, Marking is offering her experience as a team member of Divine Women, a new nonprofit on the East Side at 847 E. “The need is great across all sectors, and the approaches that we take are universal,” Estrada said. “There’s no limit to that. I believe that a lot of work we’re doing in the community is going to be based on the way that Divine Women is created. We’re trying to see how this kind of program can be re-used and re-designed for other communities as well.”
“It’s about relationships and working together for a common purpose,” Stoelje said. “This is something that we can all benefit from.”
