Bexar County Sheriff's OfficeOn Feb. 22, BCSO received a tip regarding a case of animal cruelty involving malnourished horses, the sheriff's office wrote in a social media post on Monday. Deputies and the office's animal-cruelty investigator headed to the location in the 10000 block of Silver Trail, Atascosa, southwest of San Antonio.

Two horses were observed that appeared to be emaciated and without access to an adequate food or water supply. "The horses were extremely thin and had been eating the bark off of trees nearby as well as the wood from their enclosure," BCSO wrote in the post."The horses' water bucket had algae and debris."Bexar County Sheriff's Office
