As Jessica M. Kemp, the communications chair for the San Antonio 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, told us during an Editorial Board meeting last week, the MLK march isn’t just about celebrating King’s legacy or highlighting the need for unity and mutual respect on this given day, it’s also about challenging the community.
And San Antonio has work to do. We remain one of the poorest big cities in the nation. We are also one of the most economically segregated.
