is an intriguing talent in the 2023 NFL Draft. Leota was extremely productive in 2022 before suffering a season-ending injury. Leota recorded 10 pressures and 4.0 sacks in five contests.
Eku Leota: It was my second season at Auburn. I was significantly more comfortable. I felt more like a veteran. I learned the scheme and system throughout my first season. I didn’t have to learn on the fly anymore. JM: I thought you looked really good. It was a torn pectoral injury, but we saw you get some work in during this year’sEku Leota: I’ve 100% recovered from the pec injury. I’ve just been getting back healthy from a minor calf issue. I’ll be running at 100% speed in a few days. I’m getting cleared to resume full training. I’m still training down at EXOS in Pensacola. It’s been great to continue getting some work in with the EXOS team. They’ve been providing me with top-notch care and preparation.
I’ve spoken with so many coaches throughout this pre-draft process. They’ve given me a lot of free knowledge and pointers. We’ve worked my speed-to-power and discussed how that move can open up a lot of other moves.Eku Leota: I preferred rushing from a three-point stance at Northwestern. Once I got to Auburn, that’s where I really learned how to rush from a two-point stance as well. Auburn helped me fine-tune my arsenal from that two-point stance.
Eku Leota: I definitely think I made the right decision. I don’t have any regrets or anything like that. I’m very thankful and blessed to have played at both Auburn and Northwestern. They’re two very different programs . Having those different experiences helped me become a more well-rounded player.
