Elderly woman killed, man injured in Escondido-area house fire [Breaking]
An elderly woman died and a man in his 80s suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation in an early morning fire Thursday at an Escondido-area house, sheriff’s officials said.
When deputies arrived they found the home engulfed in flames, with an injured man standing outside. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening.Deputies went into the burning home and located a man in his 50s who was asleep and uninjured and brought him outside, sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Portillo said in a statement.
Battalion Chief Tyler Batson told Fox 5 San Diego that crews were told the woman remained trapped inside.
