Election Day in Ohio is upon us.
Tuesday is Election Day in the United States, and Ohioans will select their next U.S. Senator, governor, attorney general, secretary of state, auditor, treasurer, three Supreme Court justices, and 15 representatives in Congress. That’s not to mention new representatives in the state legislature, two statewide ballot issues, appellate judges, plus local and county races and referendums.
The legislative and congressional races are set by district lines passed exclusively by state Republicans that weregerrymanders by the Ohio Supreme Court. A federal court ordered them to take effect for this cycle’s elections regardless. The federal races could shift control of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate to Republicans. The legislative races could leave Republicans with supermajorities in both chambers of the Statehouse. The Supreme Court races will dictate who oversees the next era of the ongoing redistricting legal fight.
Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m., but voters who are in line to vote by closing time will be allowed to cast a ballot. Voters can find their polling station by calling their local boards of election or via the secretary of state’s
