He explained his ambition to send people to Mars stemmed from the fear that human extinction is imminent."It's important for us to take the set of actions that are most likely to continue consciousness into the future. He was especially excited about the future of space travel, saying:"This is the first time in a four-and-a-half billion year history of Earth, it is possible to extend life beyond it." But Ma claimed he wasn't on the same page as the American entrepreneur. Instead, the Chinese billionaire said he was more interested in Earth."You want to go to Mars, but I'm not interested in Mars. I'm interested in Earth...I'm not a fan of Mars because I think it's easy to go to Mars," he explained.However, one thing the entrepreneurs seemed to agree on was how to survive the rocky times of AI.
