Tesla's Elon Musk is firing up the engine for a battle with short sellers. AntonyMCurrie
Tesla on Feb. 28 started selling a $35,000 version of its Model 3 sedan, the price Chief Executive Elon Musk had initially earmarked for the vehicle that first went on sale in mid-2017. The company is also shifting all sales online and closing most of its stores. That “will enable us to lower all vehicle prices by about 6 percent on average, allowing us to achieve the $35,000 Model 3 price point earlier than expected,” the company said.
Musk has until March 11 to explain to U.S. District Court Judge Alison Nathan why he should not be held in contempt for a misleading tweet about the company’s 2019 vehicle production on Feb. 19.
