If the New York Giants can’t agree to extension terms with star running back Saquon Barkley, it seems like they already have a contingency plan in place. That contingency plan is former OklahomaIn 2022, Barkley proved to the Giants and everyone else that he was still among the game’s best three-down running backs. He finished fourth in the NFL with a career-high 1,312 rushing yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns.
That’s where Gray comes in. In year one, the rookie out of Oklahoma projects to be a change-of-pace back behind Barkley, giving the Giants an upgrade at RB2 over Matt Breida. He’s a very elusive runner that uses his lateral quickness, good cuts, and creativity to avoid would-be tacklers on the first and second levels. Gray also has three-down value at the position with consistent hands as a pass-catcher and a willingness to block in pass protection.
Gray has nice burst and lateral agility. For being listed at 209 lbs, he is pretty light on his feet.
