PENSACOLA, Fla. – An Escambia County sheriff's deputy was shot four times Wednesday afternoon while responding to a call for medical assistance, the third deputy from the department to be shot in the last five days.According to Morgan, emergency dispatchers received a call for assistance at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday. The caller told dispatchers he was experiencing domestic problems and requested that an ambulance be sent to his home.
EMS responders requested that deputies accompany them to the home, which is not unusual, Morgan said. The deputies arrived before the ambulance. According to Morgan, Daniel Hux, 41, drew his gun on deputies as soon as they arrived at his home. He was also shot “upwards of four times" in the exchange and was undergoing surgery late Wednesday afternoon.How sheriff’s deputies respondedTwo deputies were shot Friday while responding to the deadly shooting at NAS Pensacola.
