It's the latest cosmetics company doing its part to help stop the shortage during the coronavirus pandemic.
, the Estée Lauder Companies announced on Monday, March 23, that it will begin contributing to efforts to relieve the hand-sanitizer shortage that has created an enormous problem for people working in health care.
"The Estée Lauder Companies is proud to contribute to the broader COVID-19 relief efforts by reopening our Melville manufacturing facility this week to producefor high-need groups and populations, including front-line medical staff," the statement reads, referring to its factory in Long Island, New York.
The announcement doesn't indicate exactly where the hand sanitizer will be distributed. "We are grateful to our employees who have worked tirelessly to make this possible. Compensated, employee volunteers will support this vital, meaningful effort." In addition to making hand sanitizer, the Estée Lauder Companies also announced that it has pledged $2 million to Doctors Without Borders to aid with the organization's efforts to address coronavirus in countries with less resources.
There are a lot of beauty trends we can get behind, but the temporary switch from making cosmetics to making hand sanitizer for those who need it most is arguably the best one of 2020.
