The fight for equality hasn’t been easy, and USWNT still has a long way to go. But this fight isn’t new to them, and they’ve been making strides and making their voices heard when it comes to equal pay for years.The USWNT has been working towards equality for decades. The famed “99ers” team — who won the World Cup in the eponymous year — went on strike because of the pay gap months after winning the famed tournament, USA Today reported.
According to Women In The World, The U.S. Soccer Federation’s salary data showed that the women players were being paid almost four times less than male players of their stature — despite the fact that the women had garnered more than $20 million in revenue during the 2015 season.
