Bahamian health minister says the death toll from Hurricane Dorian has risen to 23.
Stunned residents of the Bahamas surveyed the wreckage of their homes and officials struggled to assess the number killed by Hurricane Dorian, as the storm bore down on the South Carolina coast, threatening record flooding on Thursday.
The Bahamian health minister told NBC News Thursday that the death toll from Dorian had risen to 23, and that the number is expected to rise. Imagery from Planet Labs shows the toll of Hurricane Dorian on Marsh Harbour, a town in the Abaco Islands of the Bahamas.South Carolina was preparing for a record storm surge, potentially reaching a height of 8 feet at the popular vacation destination of Myrtle Beach, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in an advisory.
