For years, activists have warned that Facebook was changing culture for the worse. Now, those claims have apparently been substantiated by Frances Haugen, a former Facebook product manager turned whistleblower who revealed her identity on 60 Minutes

to the public about addressing site-wide issues of hate speech and threats of violence to increase traffic, and reversed safeguards against misinformation after the 2020 election that may have helped to set the stage for the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

“I’ve seen a bunch of social networks and it was substantially worse at Facebook than what I had seen before,” Haugen said on, seemingly referencing her previous employment at Google, Pinterest, and Yelp. She added, “Facebook, over and over again, has shown it chooses profit over safety.
