It may not work, but it should be fascinating to watch.Based on Phillip Pullman’s expansive YA fantasy series, the BBC/HBO co-production follows Lyra Belacqua, a young orphan on a quest to find a group of kidnapped children while being pursued by an evil woman with great eyebrows, played by Ruth Wilson. Lyra’s protector/companion is the physical manifestation of her inner self, which takes the form of a charismatic superweasel named Pantalaimon.
