A 'family' of employees and customers are rallying to save a beloved diner in North Salt Lake.

The staff at Janet’s Sunshine Cafe in North Salt Lake keeps the doors open while the owner is hospitalized.

“Everyone works really well together, and we try to help each other out. … Everyone’s on board to make it work,” said Katie Tucker, a former customer who’s been a server at the cafe for the last three years. “One of the most common things customers say is, ‘Are you guys all family?’ We always laugh and say, ‘Kinda, but not really.’”to raise money for help Barmore through what is likely to be a long recovery.

The doors open at 7 a.m. and, Tucker said, “we’re pretty busy right off the bat. … We serve about 150 to 170 people a day, and on the weekends, we serve between 250 to 280. Our little cafe only seats 37 people, so we’re working really hard and really fast to get people in and fed and well taken of, and then get them on their way.”
