After Andre Carroll was fatally shot in 2021, his family started an organization to honor his life and ambition of improving the lives of people in his community
This weekend, 100 backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to kids at a Lemon Grove park by the family and friends of an Imperial Beach man who was fatally shot two years ago.
The second annual backpack giveaway is being hosted by Modern Wave Breaking Generational Curses, an organization created by the family members of Andre D. Carroll, an Imperial Beach man who was fatally shot at age 30 in El Cajon on Aug. 25, 2021.The night of Carroll’s death, El Cajon Police said they responded to a call about gunfire just after midnight near Mollison and Sandalwood Drive, wherewith several gunshot wounds. He was then taken to a hospital where he died.
The organization aims to give back to families and children in need by offering free events, backpacks, school supplies and financial literacy education.
