A man was shot dead in Richmond Wednesday morning and the suspect was still at large, according to authorities.
Richmond Police said the shooting happened at about 11:24 a.m. in the area of the 2400 block of Lancaster Drive just north of Contra Costa College. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to a police spokesman.
Despite the efforts of officers and medics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police officers were gathered outside an apartment complex where the street was littered with yellow evidence markers. "You can tell by the evidence markers behind me the scene is fairly extensive," said Richmond Police Sgt. Donald Patchin."We're still in the process of locating evidence and marking the evidence."
A horrific scene this morning as Richmond records its first homicide of the year at the 2400 block of Lancaster Drive. A male victim has succumbed to his injuries from a gun shot wound. The suspect is still outstanding according to Richmond Police.
