FBI increases reward to $20K in 2005 murder of 13-year-old girl in Indiana

This article is available exclusively for our subscribers, who help fund our work at the Chicago Tribune.The FBI is seeking information regarding the unsolved murder of 13-year-old Alexandra Anaya, who was reported missing Aug. 13, 2005, from her Hammond residence. Three days later, Alex's body was recovered from the Little Calumet River. She was wearing a gold chain with a religious medallion.

The FBI has announced it has increased its reward to $20,000 for information leading to a conviction in the murder of Alexandra “Alex” Anaya, 13, whose body was found chained and weighed down by a concrete block in the Little Calumet River in August of 2005. Anaya was reported missing from her home in Hammond, Indiana, on Aug. 13, 2005, and was found three days later in the river., years after her daughter’s slaying after no one was charged. At the time, the reward was $10,000.

On Thursday, the FBI announced it has increased the reward offered. The announcement was made on Missing Children’s Day.Advertisement
