Asked how worried he was about the outbreak, Michael Head, senior research fellow at the U.K.'s University of Southampton, told:"My personal view is that the outbreak can still be contained, but the situation can change so quickly. "The key concern is if the virus becomes common in low and lower-middle income countries, for example in sub-Saharan Africa. Their health systems are fragile and if they have confirmed cases in significant numbers, they will be unlikely to cope and spread could be exacerbated."
