The charges follow a joint investigation by Baltimore County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration that determined he had acted “as a large-scale cocaine and marijuana trafficker within the Baltimore area,” from March 2019 to July 2020. During the police probe, law enforcement identified an apartment the man used to receive, store and package drugs. As well, co-conspirators frequently used nearby hotels to carry out drug transactions.
The man has admitted that the approximately $2.6 million in cash seized from him were proceeds of his drug trafficking activities, the district attorney reports. “Drug trafficking on the scale practiced by not only fuels fatal fentanyl overdoses and opioid addiction, but it also fuels violence in our communities” Erek Barron, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, says in the statement.Article content
