The City of San Diego is in the middle of the approval process for a proposed project, a congregation called All People’s Church.
“That says to me that you’re not expecting a few cars here and there. You’re not expecting just a little bit of traffic. That’s going to have a huge impact on our ability to get in and out of Del Cerro and to get in and out of our homes.”“That’s not what we were pitched. So I feel like we got a bait and switch to jump onboard with the idea,” said Blakely.
Herbert said there’s also a church building shortage too. He feels churches, and places of worship are the foundation of a community. All People’s Church launched fifteen years ago and has locations across the world. “I believe the pastor will bless his people, when and where and how that occurs. But it doesn’t have to be a 900-seat sanctuary on a plot of land that is ill-suited for that size and scope of a project,” said Blakely.
