Fire prompts lane closures on Interstate 8 in El Cajon [Breaking]
A brush fire on the side of Interstate 8 in El Cajon Tuesday resulted in lane closures on the freeway, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 2:15 p.m. near El Cajon Boulevard and Murray Drive and quickly spread to 10 acres, Heartland Fire & Rescue officials said. Forward progress was stopped around 3:35 p.m. The blaze prompted authorities to shut down all lanes on west I-8, CalTrans officials said in a statement on Twitter.The Green Line Trolley could not travel between the Amaya Drive trolley station and the El Cajon Transit Center due to the fire, San Diego Metropolitan Transit system officials. Buses were called in to shuttle commuters between the two stops.
