Fired The Mandalorian star Gina Carano has another Twitter feud as she disputes journalist's claim that she 'fumbled the bag' with Disney.
The Mandalorian season 3 is slated to premiere on Disney+ in March without Gina Carano's Cara Dune character, and the fired former Star Wars hero has taken to Twitter to comment on the conversation surrounding one of her recent films. The Mandalorian season 2 streamed in late 2020, but scheduling conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic have played a role in season 3's longer-than-normal wait.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In a series of Tweets, fired The Mandalorian star Gina Carano has disputed claims from The Hollywood Reporter contributor Richard Newby that she squandered her career after Disney removed her from the hit original series in early 2021. In the Tweets, Carano claimed that she didn't fumble the bag, alleging that the "online mob" couldn't handle her refusal to go along with "the sell-out narrative.
Those who opposed her online opinions took the news well due to many of her posts on certain subjects being anti-Semitic, transphobic, or generally derogatory, three descriptors that go against the inclusive filmmaking practices strived for by Disney. After her firing, the former MMA star moved on to work on a small-budget partisan film titled My Son Hunter, a dramatization of events based on allegations made against Hunter Biden, the son of United States President Joe Biden.
After being considered a rising star through her performance on The Mandalorian, Gina Carano's mainstream notoriety has trended downward since her firing. The Star Wars universe has continued without much issue in her absence. Rangers of the New Republic's cancelation shouldn't seriously impact future content on Disney+, with spinoff series Ahsoka Tano and Skeleton Crew slated to take place at or around the in-universe timeline of the flagship series.
