One person on board the plane survived and was hospitalized.
A small passenger plane crashed Saturday in south Lafayette after apparently landing in a field short of the airport, killing five people. Emergency officials responded to the crash shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday near a Walmart.
Acadian Ambulances reported on Twitter that they had transported two people to the hospital following the crash that appeared to have occurred in a vacant lot.
