For some reason, PG-13 horror is always a topic of conversation with some of the genre's more aggressive audience, even though solid films like The Grudge, The Last Exorcism, Insidious, and more recently, M3GAN have already delivered solid scares for audiences of all ages (mostly).
So, with the upcoming film Five Nights At Freddy's proving to have a mostly younger-skewing audience, it only makes sense that it'll be a gruesome film that's still aware of its teen demographic. So that is something that I had a lot of fun doing, and actually really appreciated that we were taking the PG-13 approach for this because there's such a younger audience for Five Nights At Freddy's, and we didn't want to exclude them.'
