Florida reported more than 21,600 new COVID cases on Friday -- a state record for the highest number of new infections in one day since the beginning of the pandemic.

The average age of patients is younger than during previous peaks throughout the pandemic. “The virus has a new target: the unvaccinated and younger people,” Mary Mayhew, president and CEO of the Florida Hospital Association, said in the statement.
