Sep. 04, 2023, 8:57 a.m.It's near the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season and there were four areas to watch for development in the tropics on Monday. Of the most concern is the area in red, which is expected to become a depression soon and possibly Hurricane Lee later this week. Forecasters will be monitoring its path very closely this week. The other storms are not a threat to the U.S.
But it appears to be getting more organized, and forecasters are expecting a tropical depression to form in the next few days.The concentrated area of storms on the lower right is a tropical wave that could become a depression soon.
