DENVER — A longtime Denver prosecutor says he believes the information contained in Elijah McClain’s amended autopsy report could potentially help defense counsel for the three officers and two paramedics indicted in connection with McClain’s death.
All five of them – Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema from APD, and paramedics Jeremy Cooper and Peter Cichuniec from AFR – face counts of manslaughter and criminal negligent homicide. They also face other counts. They are scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 4 after multiple delays. “I think that these reports certainly help the police officers, if not exonerate the police officers. But I think they also help the paramedics that are charged in this case,” Morrissey said. “I think these are going to be things that the defense hones in on and utilizes in trying to show that the prosecutor has not met their burden.”
