of California has named former Republican Representative Denver Riggleman to join the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. They will join the committee's senior staff.
Pelosi also invited Homeland Security Department Principal Deputy General Counsel Joseph Maher to join the committee's senior staff. "Mr. Riggleman brings a deep background in national security and intelligence matters," Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson said in a statement issued Friday."Mr. Maher has distinguished himself across his career as a public servant," Thompson added, thanking Republican Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney for recommending his inclusion.
"I thank these two public servants for their willingness to support the Select Committee's important work by joining our nonpartisan staff. They understand how close our democracy was to catastrophe on January 6th and I commend their commitment to help ensure we never see a repeat of that day," Thompson's statement continued.
