Former Phillies star pitcher Cole Hamels appears ready to emerge from retirement for a third attempt at returning to Major League Baseball.
The 2018 World Series MVP is currently reviewing offers from teams following a recent workout, according to anHamels, who last pitched for the Phillies in 2015, a season that included his tossing a no-hitter at the Chicago Cubs, held a recent throwing session.report said the 39-year-old lefthander was throwing the baseball at speeds between 88 and 91 mph.
The report states it is unclear if the Phillies want to take a chance with their former World Series star, who they traded to the Texas Rangers in 2015.. Hamels last pitched a full season in 2019 for the Chicago Cubs, fashioning a 7-7 record and 3.81 ERA in 27 starts.
