Anthony Weiner was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party. After the completion of his 21-month prison sentence on Tuesday, the former congressman now wants to live a life of “integrity.”
Weiner pleaded guilty in 2017 to sending obscene photos, or sexting, to a North Carolina high school student. He served a lengthy portion of his sentence at a prison in Massachusetts before getting transferred to the Creston Avenue home in the Bronx for his final three months. He became New York City’s youngest city council member in history when he won the seat in 1991 at age 27. He won a race in 1998 for the congressional seat in Washington, and he served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1999 until June of 2011, when he resigned after explicit photos of him emerged that were allegedly sexted to a woman.
